My parents became Christians while attending a Southern Baptist Church in Ohio early in their marriage. Shortly after that period in their lives, I was born in June of 1969. A few years later my dad was transferred to Pennsylvania where he, my mom, and two older sisters began attending North Penn Baptist Church in suburban Philadelphia. For the first six years of my life, I was the youngest child of three. In 1976, my mother gave birth to a baby girl. My little sister was placed in my room and I was not happy about all the attention she received. I began struggling with jealousy. I remember being angry and upset at both my parents and my newborn sister. My mother, a godly woman, was sensitive to my struggles and questioned me spiritually. She asked me if I were ready to become a Christian. At first, she led me through the "sinner’s prayer." But, I didn’t feel a change in my life. However, I asked her if I could pray all by myself. So on Good Friday, in April of 1976, I asked Jesus to come into my life in my living room. Instantly, after praying, I remember feeling the Lord was really alive and in my life. I remember telling my friends and older sisters and couldn’t wait for my dad to come home from work to tell him the good news. For the most part, as time passed by, I continued in the Lord as my parents were faithful to bring me up in the training and instruction of the Lord. My youth years were tough, but Christ protected me from the many dangers that faced most teenagers, even those in my own youth group. During those times, I truly desired to serve the Lord. I enlisted in the US Army Reserve between my junior and senior years in High School. Basic training was hard, but God used it to work in my life, and I learned as a teenager to trust only Him. He was my Rock and strength. I knew I needed Christian friends, so I looked for a college that could provide a godly atmosphere. I was admitted to Hardin-Simmons University, a Southern Baptist school in Abilene, Texas. While at college, I served actively at Elmcrest Baptist Church and was discipled by my college minister. I also met Emily, who one day was to become my wife, and we enjoyed falling in love with each other during the college years. I graduated with a degree in secondary education and looked forward to working in the education world. After graduation, I found a job in Lewisville, Texas teaching High School. After teaching one year, Emily and I decided to marry, and I moved back to Abilene, Texas so she could finish her education. Unable to find a new teaching position in the Abilene area, I found a temporary job at a local Christian bookstore. While all along, I planned to return to teach in the public school system, I found myself reading more and more extensively in the Bible and other Christian books. I remember one morning during my quiet time that while I had my own plans for my life, God showed me that He had other plans. Over the next few months, I experienced what I believe is God’s call to a full-time vocational gospel ministry. Looking back over my life, I recognize God’s leadership in my life preparing me to be a pastor-teacher. For years I had developed a love for the local New Testament church and had been faithful in serving on a volunteer basis - whether it involved mission trips, teaching, or various outreach opportunities. So instead of applying for a teaching position, I applied to Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. In May of 1994, I was accepted to Seminary and began a three and half year theological training process. In addition to the theological degree I earned in 1997, I also learned valuable ministry experience in being asked to serve as a junior staff member at Southcliff Baptist Church. These responsibilities included the part-time Evangelist Intern position and later on the part-time Children’s Ministry position. Upon graduation from seminary, in the providence of God, I was called to serve as pastor of the Huntington Baptist church, in Huntington, Indiana. Beginning my tenure January 1, 1998. By the grace of God, for the past six and half years, it has been my privilege to help lead this small congregation to grow in its mission to equip the saints and evangelize the lost through the faithful teaching of His Word. In the process I have witnessed God move in mighty ways by bringing many people into his kingdom as well as equipping others to find their own ministry and missions, not only here in Indiana but also around the world. It truly brings me great joy as a pastor to be an equipper of His church. In 2003, after the Lord had doubled our Sunday worship attendance, and tripled our budget receipts, God graciously allowed us to build a beautiful new building which increased our worship and education capacity. As is His custom, God has been faithful to provide the necessary funds needed to accomplish this task. In June of 2005, the Lord added to our staff a full-time minister of Students and Worship to help meet the needs of our growing congregation Today, I enjoy ministering here in Huntington to the wonderful fellowship the Lord has brought together. Each day that passes since January of 1998, I personally continue to marvel at God's grace that He would allow me to be part of this equipping process here at Huntington Baptist- a church community that I call home.

I grew
up in a small town in western New York.
I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when I was in second
grade. I was very blessed to grow up
in a Christian home with parents who encouraged me to go to church. While I
was in college, I had the opportunity to move off campus and be involved in a
relational ministry in the inner city of Marion, IN. I lived in a house with
three other classmates that was owned by Marion Inner City Outreach (MICO). We
did many things during our time there. We had block parties, held prayer groups,
tutored, babysat, and just shared the love of Christ.
It was during that time that God confirmed the call to full time ministry
in my life. After
college, I enrolled in the US/C-2 program through the North American Mission
Board. I was in New Orleans for six
months where I worked in the inner city at a Baptist center. From there I moved
to Eastern Kentucky where I spent 2 and a half years working at a rural Baptist
center. From
there I went to Southeastern seminary in North Carolina. During my last semester
at Southeastern, I received the call to come to Huntington Baptist Church to be
the youth pastor. Becky and I (and now David) are enjoying the fellowship here
at HBC and cannot wait to see what the future holds! It is
amazing to look back and see how God took a young man who had no plans or
intentions of going into the ministry to a place of full time service for Him.
It has been a wild ride so far. I can’t wait to see what He will do next.
